2010...The Year of Delayed/Postponed Albums

Its seems due to the world cup (being the excuse), this year has become a novelty for the fact so many singers have canceled or delayed release of their albums.
The Following Artists have either canceled and delayed their albums for release this summer/year with concern the world cup would deter attention from their music. BAH! lousy excuse, the world cup this year had no real significance for the Middle East anyway considering very few countries
Of course, the Artists themselves I feel cannot be entirely blamed it's their record label(s)
have been the mastermind (stupidly) of this, which has disappointed so many fans.
An example of how this has been set out is the fact Mohammed Foad was ONLY album
the leading record label Rotana released this Summer. Good news, for Foad's sales, bad news for those of us who were waiting for new releases this summer.

Here is the List of Albums from Singers That Should have been Released Already;
  • Nancy Ajram
  • Amal Hijazi
  • Diana Haddad
  • Nawal Al Zoghbi
  • Mohammad Hamaki,
  • Mayda al Hinawi
  • Wardah

Nawal Al Zoghbi - Mona Einah (Translated)

This was Nawal Al-Zoghbi's only release for 2009 and will debut on her 2010 album.
It's a Khaleeji (Gulf Arabic) song, that talks about mankind's relationship with "mother nature" well to be more specific the earth/planet, from its point of view. With Al Zoghbi supposedly being the personification of the Planet (mother nature) itself.
She sings about about how man has abused the planet and now he regrets what he has done.
The video was directed by Lebanese music video director Yahya Saade and took several months to complete.

video

Although this is what the context the of the song is about (the environment), the song was also released after Nawal Al-Zoghbi separated from her ex-husband (they are not officially divorced yet) Elie Deeb and if you look closely into the context of the lyrics you may see comparisons to that situation.
I don't know maybe that's just me :)

Happy Birthday Diana Haddad

Lebanese singer Diana Haddad turns 33 today, Happy Birthday Diana with the year almost comming to an end it seems there have been some ups and downs. Her hit single Ya Aybo top charts across the middle East, however she soon split from her husband in August this year after 14 years of marriage, the a much anticipated duet with a yet to be named famous singer (later revealed to be Alicia Keys) Haddad spoke of in 2008,was cancelled due to Alicia Keys's finicial greed demanding $500,0000 for participation in the duet, which Haddad thought was unacceptable. Its seems Haddad has arisen from these challenges and made the best of them, her latest album is soon to be release and the duet has been replaced with another (although most likely not that famous) Lebanese Canadian singer. I'm just hoping its not Karl Wolf, who I personally cant stand right now. Diana is WAY too talented to do a duet with that guy.

Diana Haddad in Maghdouche Festival

Lebanese singer Diana Haddad returned to Lebanon this week to make the finishing touches on her latest album that is planned to be released soon.
She also made arrangements to be able to participate in a small Lebanese festival in the Southern town of Maghdouche Haddad's hometown not far from her birth place in Bsalim. The large crowds of around 6,000 danced the dabke to her latest Lebanese track Ya Aibo(Oh what a shame)and overall their seemed to be an upbeat feeling among the crowd old and young alike. The epiphony of the festival seemed to be when she sung a song almost a decade old but was dedicated to the town in tribute called "Maghdouche" or Ishtaqit Laki Ya Maghdosheh (Oh how I miss you Maghdouche) from the album Jarh Al Habib(2000).

Haifa's Happiness during Ramadan

Its seems marriage (for the second time) may have made a strong effect on Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe who is often hailed as the Most popular and prevalent "Sex Symbol" of the middle east. Who is used to having her name in papers and is a tabloid favourite, seems to even have a religious side to her.
Haifa who moved to Egypt after the marrying in April this year to Egyptian businessman Ahmed Abu Hashima.During this Ramadan (the first since her marriage) like many Muslims she will be centering it around her family and acting the dutiful wife by preparing special meals for her husband. Wehbe who is a Shiite Muslim has been fasting during the Islamic festival of Ramadan since she was a child, has declared that the four months into her marriage and this Ramadan have been the best days of her life. She will be taking  time of this month to for religous worship and time for her family.
Rumours have also been circulating, the singer is pregnant but she is yet to deny or confirm them.

Ramadan Begins

The Islamic festival of Ramadan begins this year and millions of muslims across the globe will begin preparations of this annual Muslim event that marks a 30 day fast until sunrise.
Fasting during Ramadan is believed to teach a muslim about modesty, sacrifice and obedience.
Also learning to empathize with those who are less fortunate and are in need. This time of the year is very important to Muslims because it is the one time of year many feel obligated to be in touch with their faith and perhaps be more observant than they are normally by dressing more conservatively or praying more.
The eldery and serious ill are exempt from fasting. Many Muslims during Ramadan perhaps apreciate more family meals & time together spent around the dinner table after sunrise, when the fast is allowed to be broken.
